根据中国历法，属相按立春划分。两个生肖的划分，既不是以公历的1月1日为界限，也不是以农历的正月初一为界限，而是以24节气中的立春节气为界限。

例如，2016年2月4日17时46分00秒，所以农历2015年腊月二十六17时46分00秒后就是属猴。不一定是到正月初一才属猴。

中国黄历以立春确定生肖。“农历”是汉代开始使用的“太阴历”，新年是立春为界，立春是二十四节气之首，生肖以立春为准。
